It’s been an awfully long term, but we’ve made it!
I’m marking the last of the late TMAs, my email out-of-office message is ready to go, and I’m wearing my Christmas Penguin jumper – and I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so excited to take a break! No more working till midnight, no more Saturday classes, no more wrestling with computer systems… just two weeks of books, family, indulgent food and naps!
I’ll be taking a bit of time away from my regular Weekend Reading posts, but I’ll be making up for it by posting book reviews and a couple of interviews that I’ve been meaning to upload for ages. But for a few days at least, I plan to have nothing at all in my head but cheesy cracker jokes.
I hope you all manage to find some time for peace and quiet – or chaos and fun if that’s your preference!- and will see you all in the New Year. Merry Christmas everyone!

Thank you as ever, Cora Beth, for your writings. And best wishes for all that’s to be longed for in the festive season. If you are remotely like me, the naps may well be a highlight 😂.
Re Xmas cracker jokes:
Q. What is the grammatical status of Santa’s elves? A. They are all subordinate clauses.
Take care. Martin
