Weekend Reading: Raising a Smile

Judging by the state of my inbox this week, a lot of people are just a bit miserable at the moment. From the MA students still juggling dissertation ideas, to the Latin and Roman History students recovering from exam panic and beginning to worry about results, most of the people I’ve been talking to lately are not entirely happy.

I can’t say that I’ve been having a particularly great week myself; I’ve been working 10-hour days trying to keep up with the marking, and the chores (not to mention the emails) are piling up! And Steve, one of the regular contributors to this site, has been having a much worse week than anybody ought to have.

So for everybody out there who’s feeling a bit down this week, here’s a collection of classical humour to cheer you up, taken from my extensive collection of silliness… And if you have any classical jokes to contribute, add them in the Comments box!

(Apologies for the lack of attributions on some of these images: the internet is not always very conscientious about referencing!)
