It’s that time of year again – the time when people all over the world do silly classical things with Lego! Do join in, if you’re able – post photos of your creations on social media (or send them to me to post on your behalf) tagged with #ILCD2024 or #ILCD24. Or just spend a happy day browsing the hashtag on your social media platform of choice!
This year I’m delighted to be part of the official Lego Classicist Pantheon, alongside some amazing creators – I can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Every year I try to do something different for International Lego Classicism Day. Last year I made a Minotaur story and built a Labyrinth. In 2022 I made a little video about the Temple of Antenociticus (that got me into the newspapers!), and back in 2021 I created a book (in verse, because I like to overcomplicate things!) about Robert Blair, the South Shields solicitor who was instrumental in bringing about the excavation of Arbeia Roman Fort. My project for 2020 was based on my research on Princess Claudia of Britain, and the year before that I invented a mini-epic about Barates of Palmyra.
This year’s project may be my silliest yet. I do hope it gives you a laugh! Drum roll please…
